DESIGN PROCESS

From conception to completion, our highly trained designers keep the Client well informed throughout the entire design spiral, ensuring that the end product is custom tailored to the Client’s specific requirements. A brief description of the methodology in a typical newbuild design project is listed below:

  1. Initial discussions with Client
  2. Feasibility study (if requested)
  3. Conceptual design arrangement
  4. Preliminary design calculations
  5. Continue discussions with Client
  6. Finalise the General Arrangement Plan
  7. Prepare the Technical Specifications
  8. Prepare tender documentation (if required)
  9. Enter contract design stage
  10. Prepare weight estimates, preliminary hullform & stability data etc.
  11. Finalise hull model and generate lines plan
  12. Finalise design calculations using final hull model and lines plan
  13. Produce hydrostatic properties table, cross curves, stability reports etc.
  14. Structural design calculations
  15. Preparation of hull construction drawings
  16. Finalise hull construction and deckhouse/superstructure drawings
  17. Prepare engineering plans – shafting, coupling, rudder, piping, etc.
  18. Continuous checking throughout all stages of design
  19. Prepare loadline drawing and calculate loadline
  20. Submit to Classification Society for review and approval
  21. On completion of vessel, attend inclining experiment and sea trials
  22. Prepare final stability booklet
  23. Vessel handover
