Justin Wee & Associates Pte Ltd (JWA) comprises an experienced and qualified team of naval architects and marine consultants who provide value-for-money ship design/engineering services across a range of vessel segments. JWA was formed in 2017 and has since built a reputation as a reliable provider of vessel design and marine consulting services. JWA is a modern ship design company focused on delivering comprehensive naval architectural and marine consulting services. At JWA, we pride ourselves on providing well-thought-out solutions to our Clients and meeting their specific requirements. We are generalist Designers of a wide array of ship types. Although we are not shipbuilders ourselves, we work closely with shipyards as independent Consultants, supporting the yards’ activities. Working with our Clients over the years, we understand their needs and are in tune with market demands. We incorporate innovative features into our vessel designs that cater to the Owner’s requirements. Our Customers’ aspirations and needs are always our priority. JWA has a highly qualified team with extensive knowledge in all facets of vessel design. Our office is in the maritime hub of Singapore, strategically located within South East Asia, and well positioned to provide ship design/engineering services to the Asia Pacific Region.
From inception to completion, our naval architects communicate with Customers to ensure that the vessel’s design meets their requirements and the finished product performs as expected. We always listen intently to our Client’s needs and requirements so as to gain a full and complete understanding of what is important to them. We base all our new vessel designs on existing and proven hulls which are continually reviewed and updated through our R&D program. By this iterative and permutative process of spawning new, derived-from-proven designs from proven designs, the best possible outcome for in-service performance and operational profile is attained. Additionally, JWA employs a requirements based methodology in our design process that ensures the vessel design is right the first time. With our broad range of experience and expertise across multiple vessel market segments, JWA consistently and reliably provides ship designs that meet and oftentimes exceed our Client’s expectations.
At JWA, we take the time to ensure that the initial design meets all the requirements of our Clients. A rigorous quality assurance program is in place whereby all engineering calculation work is checked and re-checked for correctness before presenting to the Client. As Designers, the quality of the drawings and engineering plans we produce is what defines us. And we apply the most stringent and exacting standards to ourselves to safeguard our reputation as producers of quality ship designs, drawings and plans.
JWA uses the latest numerical tools and modelling software to ensure that everything fits onboard the vessel from the start of construction, thus reducing costs by eliminating rework. These software modules are also used to analyse stability, perform hull optimisation, predict resistance and powering as well as check seakeeping characteristics. JWA also employs software analysis tools to perform structural design and analyses, hydrodynamics simulations and finite element method calculations.
JWA’s designers and naval architects work as a team to ensure that all operational and functional requirements of the Client are achieved. We offer basic and production design packages in both 2D and 3D CAD. Our 3D geometrical modelling service allows Clients to visualise their vessel in full, as well as eliminating clashing/interference issues during construction, thus providing exceptional value and quality of the end product.
JWA provides design consultation and engineering services to ship Builders and ship Owners. Our relevant experience makes us suited and adept at providing not only complete designs for newbuilds, but also acting in the role of Consultant for existing vessels’ modifications/conversions. Our consulting philosophy utilises the same customer-centric methodology so that a practical, workable and buildable solution is achieved for every project. In addition to ship design, which is our core business and main revenue stream, JWA also provides technical services in project management & newbuild supervision, vessel pre-purchase inspection & valuation as well as expert witness testimony & technical advice in maritime dispute/arbitration cases.
JWA specializes in the design of various ship types in compliance with the latest international shipbuilding Standards and Rules for Classification.
